Environment

Much of the work we carry out has a direct impact on improving the environment and social conditions for communities around the UK. However, we recognise that our activities, and materials used can potentially have a detrimental effect in some areas.

With this in mind we became one of the first civil engineering companies within Great Britain to attain the international standard for Environmental Management Systems - BS EN ISO14001. Bethell was selected to become one of the 50 ‘fast-track’ companies who were given extra support to progress in achieving the accreditation in the pilot programme in 2001.

All proposed projects undergo a thorough environmental impact assessment before works commence on site in order to respond sensitively and sensibly to the interface of our works and the surroundings. All our staff receive regular Environmental Training to ensure they are fully knowledgeable of the systems we employ to ensure the environmental impact of our works is negligible.

We are proud of our Company’s zero environmental incident record over the past ten years which is testimony to the great emphasis we place on protecting the environment for the enjoyment of future generations.
