Carbon Footprint and CO2 Emissions

In response to the Construction Industry Action Plan launched in July 2010 by the Strategic Forum for Construction and the Carbon Trust which outlined an ambitious plan to cut the carbon footprint of construction sites in England by 15% over the next two years, we have looked at the following ways of further reducing the Company’s impact on the environment –

• The efficient use of resources to minimise raw material consumption and reduction of waste to landfill.
• Sourcing recycled materials and promoting their use with our clients.
• The move towards cleaner forms of energy production, using electrical or lpg powered plant on sites in lieu of diesel and petrol power.
• Supporting local communities and ensuring that our sites are served by local labour and suppliers so that distances travelled are reduced.

We have made an initial calculation of our carbon footprint based on data for 2010 and intend to commit to the Construction Industry Action Plan and reduce our carbon footprint by 15% by the end of 2012.
