Transport

Transport accounts for a large proportion of the Bethell’s CO2 emissions. In 2008 this resulted in each employee producing an average of 578kg of CO2 per annum just from transport emissions (excluding site machinery). Our long term target is to achieve a 30% reduction in our CO2 emissions by 2020, which will exceed the UK Government target of 26%.

Our short term target is to meet the Construction Industry Action Plan and reduce our carbon footprint by 15% by the end of 2012.
Initiatives to achieve these targets will include:

• Use of more carbon friendly vehicles
• Tracker systems in vehicles to monitor usage and cut out unnecessary journeys
• More efficient planning of journeys
• Car sharing scheme
