Bethell Construction
North Huyton Specialist Skills Centre
The project comprises the construction of a new two storey training centre for construction trades for Huyton Churches Training Services, complete with office accommodation, classrooms, café and all necessary supporting accommodation.
In late 2007 Bethell was invited to submit the first stage of a two stage tender and following evaluation of the first stage bid was selected to negotiate a guaranteed maximum price through the second stage.
One factor taken into consideration by our client when awarding the contract, apart from value for money, was our dedication and enthusiasm for the project and our commitment to support them not only during construction but also when the building is operational, through our many trades contacts.
Building commenced in January 2008 and is due for completion early 2009 and will provide excellent facilities for construction trades training and support of young people in the local area.
SPECIFICATION
The steel framed building is clad with steel sheet cladding and facing brickwork to provide a functional and easily maintained structure.
The central circulation areas are glazed in a Technal system with triple skinned roof lights giving a high level of natural lighting.
External doors and windows are in powder coated aluminium.
All workshop areas internally are in blockwork to suit the robust nature of the building trades being taught.
The building is targeted to utilize 10% of its energy from a renewable source and this is achieved by using geothermal energy from bore holes located under the car parking areas.
