Tameside Day Hospital

The Mental Health Unit is located at the far South East corner of the Hospital site backing onto Mellor Road. The building refurbishment works were carried out within the site hoardings with limited access for materials and plant.

Only part of the Mental Health Unit was refurbished and access into the construction site was through existing doors to the gymnasium area.

The main elements of work were:

• Site setup – Solid Heras fencing was erected around the construction site area and a temporary toilet was delivered and services connected. All waste water and effluent was discharged down the nearest manhole into the sewerage system.
• Refurbishment of Mental Health Unit wards 21a and 21b, these works included:-

Demolition works:

• demolition of block work party walls
• removal of suspended ceilings
• strip out of existing services
• soft strip of existing finishes
• flooring etc.

Masonry:

• construction of new party walls and door openings

M & E:

• first fix
• second fix
• connection to existing services
• commissioning

Joinery:

• doors and frames
• skirting boards
• window boards

Internal fit out:

• M&E first fix containment in walls and ceilings
• dry lining and plastering
• MF and suspended ceilings
• second fix M & E
• painting
• FF & E including units
