Wyre Cluster 1 & 2

Bethell were awarded the above contract in November 2007 with a start on site date of March 2008.

The contract works entailed 13 no existing ‘Ejector’ type pumping stations being converted into wet wells with operational and standby pumping arrangements. A signature design for each station was developed and approved by UU prior to works commencing on site.

Prior to works commencing at each site, suitable and sufficient temporary pumping arrangements had to be established and maintained for the construction period, before all existing arrangements could be removed. New pumps and outlet pipework were installed within each chamber and the benching arrangements altered to form a sump arrangement for the new pumps to operate effectively. New valve chambers, panel and kiosks were installed at each location at surface level.

Work locations differed greatly from locations in the public highway to locations in private properties. Reinstatement of private properties was undertaken to a high standard ensuring satisfaction from property owners upon completion of the works.

Works were completed on site in November 2008.
