Each year we repair, refurbish, replace or upgrade more than 300 substations to meet updated standards and requirements; including automated switching. These are often provided on a complete turnkey service. Following initial survey, scheme design and costing, once client approval is received, our SAPs, in conjunction with our project management, will ensure that switching, re-zoning and generation are optimised to minimise customer lost hours of supply and service. Full 'as built' schematics are provided to the customer and often the responsibility for future maintenance and servicing of the substation is passed to Bethell Engineers.

Projects can include the complete demolition and replacement or refurbishment of buildings, plinth construction, fencing, painting and general civils work. Once completed, new transformers, switch gear and associated equipment is installed and commissioned by our High Voltage electrical fitting and jointing teams. This would also involve internal wiring as well as new cabling for mains reinforcement purposes. These projects, dependant upon their location, will often involve underground and overhead cabling services.

Customer information, enquiries and service are a feature of this work, which often has a direct impact on individual customers. Communication with them is therefore key to minimising uncertainty. Our IT customer service system provides us with a facility for job management and customer information.
