A635 Manchester Road

The main civil engineering works involved the strengthening of the structure using a combination of soil nails, permanent steel sheet piling, foam filling of voids, masonry repairs and rebuilding works, all of which required considerable temporary works including cofferdams, pumping and access scaffold within the River Tame.

The A635 kerb line was realigned, the highway and footway reinstated and a box-beam vehicle restraint barrier installed. The highway works were undertaken in phases using two-way traffic control.
