Forrester’s Arms DG5, Warrington

The works involved the online replacement of 350 metres of existing 375mm diameter sewer and upsizing it with a new 600mm diameter concrete sewer. Trench depths varied between 3.5 and 4.5 metres below road level. In addition to the sewer, six associated manholes were reconstructed as as part of the scheme.

It was imperative that sewer flows were maintained during construction works and extensive temporary overpumping was employed to bypass the work site.

The sewer crossed the full width of the carriageway so works were undertaken in two stages to ensure that traffic disruption was kept to a minimum.

Upon completion of the sewer Bethell undertook carriageway resurfacing works which comprised of full road width reinstatement.
