Garstang WwTW Storm Tanks

Garstang WwTW works is operated by United Utilities and there was a regulatory need to provide additional storm water storage to allow the Works to meet its EU and OFWAT compliance targets.

Bethell Construction was awarded the contract to construct the new tanks which comprised of three side-by-side structures with overall dimensions of 30m x 30m x 6m high. The works involve the fixing of over 200 tonnes of steel reinforcement and the placement of 1200m3 of high strength water retentive concrete. High level suspended channels were cast on the inflow and outlet sides of the structures.

The works were completed within a restricted construction site as KMI+ were constructing other extensive works around the tanks.
