An award-winning scheme in Stockport town centre which opened up a previously-culverted section of the River Mersey forming a new public feature in the heart of the town.

Lancashire Bridge is comprised of a number of different structures constructed alongside each other as it was widened over the centuries to meet the growing economic demands of the town centre.  Following structural investigations to a reinforced concrete section of the structure, the deck was found to have serious structural problems affecting its load carrying capacity and the decision was made to remove the roof section and strengthen the remainder of the surrounding structure.
